Why Sing?

Meet New People

Joining a choir is a great way to make new friends and meet new people from your community. The Lehigh Valley Chorale is a welcoming group made up of a diverse range of ages, professions, singing experience and personalities. Our greatest testament to our success are our members, and how much they love to come together to make music, and how supporting they are to each other—both musically and personally.

Makes You Happy

Did you know that when you sing, your body produces feel-good hormones called endorphins? So even when coming in from a bad day at work or home, by the time you leave you will be happy and relaxed.

Good for You

When singing in a choir, the heart rates of participants synchronize with one another. This is associated with the breathing done during singing, and has the same calming effect as a yoga breathing exercise. Singing has been known to help improve posture, confidence, self-esteem and breathing.   The concentration needed for breathing and the muscles you're using, along with learning new music, exerts your body in the same way as a yoga or pilates class, which in turn relaxes your body for a better night's sleep. As an added benefit, singing improves the muscle tone in the larynx, which can help calm snoring and also improve sleeping.
